Tesla's Gigafactory Redefines Manufacturing Scale

Sales of Tesla’s Model 3 electric car, the comparatively affordable option in the Tesla line, are predicted to grow substantially. Tesla founder Elon Musk’s Nevada “Gigafactory” is likewise growing. The enormous factory will be Tesla’s production hub for the lithium-ion batteries that Tesla is counting on to power the all-electric car of the future. The all-electric Model 3 will sell for about $35,000. So far, 370,000 of the cars have been reserved by enthusiastic buyers. The 1.9 million square feet of manufacturing space in the giant factory will allow Tesla to make less expensive batteries by relying on production economies of scale.
