Summerville Teen Charged with Causing $100K in Damage at Construction Site

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — A Summerville teen drove a bulldozer through a construction site, causing more than $100,000 in damage to equipment there.

Dominic Eric Jones is charged with malicious damage to personal property and breaking into a motor vehicle after police say he broke into the Nexton construction site off Sheep Island Road and drove at least one bulldozer around the site causing damage on June 26.

Police found Jones' Mitsubishi sedan the following morning, and when police confronted him Jones admitted to leaving his car at the construction site because it had a dead battery.

According to affidavits, the owner of the bulldozers said he left the work site for about an hour, and when he returned the bulldozers were missing but could be heard operating in the distance.

During a bond hearing Thursday night, a magistrate gave Jones a personal recognizance bond.
