ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Work is underway on a new $35 million hotel in Niagara Falls.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo traveled to the site of the future Hyatt Place hotel on Tuesday to celebrate the development. The Democratic governor says it's one of the largest projects in Niagara Falls in more than 40 years and a sign that the area's economy is improving.
The 128-room hotel will include meeting and banquet space along with room for retail. Work is expected to be completed in the fall of 2017.
Cuomo says the hotel is reason to believe in the upswing of western New York following decades of decline. He says increased tourism, job growth and a renewed state focus on the region's economy are paying off.
