Feds Investigate Illinois Firm for Exposing Staff to Asbestos


U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) proceedings against an Illinois construction company have been put on hold so the feds can look at the allegations. The firm allegedly imported Mexican workers to strip asbestos from a project site, a former school, and did not provide the workers the necessary protections. Breathing asbestos fibers is known to increase the risk of cancer. Federal officials are looking into possible criminal activity by the company.
