Apple's Mother Ship Has Nearly Landed

As “built things” go, the new Apple Headquarters in Cupertino, California is a stunning work in progress. As an architectural statement, the campus is a monument both to Apple’s corporate success and centrality to the global tech culture. At 176 acres, the flying saucer-like structure itself is a mile in circumference, and will have a worker population of 13,000; a number that puts it right around the size of the average U.S. city.
